In September 2026, JR East initiated a public vote to select a new mascot from three design candidates: an orange squirrel, a purple rabbit, or an orange character accompanied by a mole. The voting process, which began on September 8 and runs until September 23, aims to select a character that embodies the ‘Suica Renaissance’ and reflects the brand’s expansion into a broader lifestyle service. The winning design's name will be chosen via public application in November 2026, with an official debut scheduled for April 2027.
