Jude Bellingham tactical role at Real Madrid

Following his participation in the 2026 World Cup, Jude Bellingham has rejoined Real Madrid’s preseason training at Valdebebas.

Bellingham has expressed significant enthusiasm for the club’s new era under manager José Mourinho, describing the opportunity to work with the Portuguese coach as a “dream”. He noted a pre-existing connection with Mourinho and expressed eagerness to adapt to the new tactical setup.

Mourinho intends to deploy the midfielder as a number 10 in a 4-2-3-1 formation. In this role, Bellingham will operate with offensive freedom as an advanced playmaker positioned behind Kylian Mbappé, intended to leverage his technical ability and instincts to penetrate the penalty area. He will play ahead of a double pivot consisting of Aurélien Tchouaméni and Federico Valverde, while maintaining high-pressing defensive responsibilities.

During training, Bellingham commented on the physical intensity of the sessions, remarking that while the heat and workload are difficult, he enjoys the “struggle” and feels more mature heading into the new season. The squad has also seen significant changes for the 2026–27 campaign, with new signings including Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, and Ibrahima Konaté joining the roster.
