The KADOKAWA Sakura Knights professional mahjong team has prepared for the 2026-27 M. LEAGUE season through sponsorship renewals and roster updates.

Initially, Creative Team Kumasan, an IP production team under EXNOA LLC, announced it would renew its sponsorship agreement with the team. As part of this continued partnership, the Creative Team Kumasan logo will remain featured on the KADOKAWA Sakura Knights' uniforms.

Following the sponsorship announcement, the team officially commenced the new season with a renewed focus after two consecutive seasons of early elimination. Manager Takumi Morii introduced a new team slogan, ‘Brightly, Energetically, Positively,’ to shift momentum. The roster includes Saka Okada, Shingo Hori, Shota Akutsu, and new member Wataru Shirunahama. The team also transitioned back to a pink-based uniform design to symbolize a return to its roots.
