Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz has been managing internal and external pressures regarding the club’s performance and trophy drought. Initially, Da Cruz responded to demands for silverware by calling for patience, stating that rebuilding the club requires realistic expectations. He also reaffirmed his “100 percent” trust in goalkeeper Brandon Petersen despite recent costly errors. Following a 1-1 draw against Polokwane City, which included an own goal by Petersen, Da Cruz maintained an optimistic outlook, asserting the team is “on the good way” and must trust the process. He also addressed the limited playing time of new signing Adolf Mtasingwa, attributing the lack of minutes to the player’s late arrival during pre-season and the need for adaptation to the South African game model. As the team prepared to face Golden Arrows at Mbombela Stadium, they faced significant injury setbacks, including goalkeeper Brandon Petersen, who was expected to be sidelined for up to six weeks due to a knee injury, and striker Wandile Duba, projected to miss two weeks due to hip and groin issues. Following an extended international break and a goalless draw against Golden Arrows, the club is now preparing to face Stellenbosch ~~FC.~~ FC at FNB Stadium. While the team aims to maintain its unbeaten start to the league campaign and close the seven-point gap on leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, injury concerns persist. Petersen has transitioned to individual training, though his availability remains unconfirmed. Playmaker Lebohang Maboe is also a fitness concern, though Lavio Silva, Khanyisa Mayo, and winger Langelihle Phili have returned to or are nearing training following previous injuries. Heading into the match against Stellenbosch FC, the squad faces an ongoing injury crisis. In addition to Petersen and Maboe, midfielders Siphesihle Ndlovu and Adolf Mutasingwa are sidelined.
