The Karabakh Revival Fund and Turan Tovuz PFC entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to donate all revenue from a friendly football match between Turan Tovuz and Turkey’s Fenerbahçe to reconstruction and sustainable development projects in the liberated territories of the Karabakh region. The match took place on October 3 in Baku. Fenerbahçe won the fixture 2-0, with goals scored by N’Golo Kante and Çağrı Hakan Balta. The game included a controversial moment in the 32nd minute when Fenerbahçe’s Mason Greenwood received a direct red card for kicking opponent Roderick Miller. To maintain tactical balance following the dismissal, the coaches of both teams agreed to continue the match with equal numbers, resulting in young player Adnan Fettahoğlu entering the pitch to replace Greenwood. Following the victory, Fenerbahçe manager İsmail Kartal expressed gratitude for the invitation and emphasized the “brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Turkey.” In separate football activity in Azerbaijan, Qarabağ FK defeated Zirə 3-1 at the Azersun Arena. Qarabağ manager Qurban Qurbanov noted that while the match provided a good test, international breaks and high match volumes for national team players present challenges for squad preparation and recovery.
