Keçiören Municipality ~~is organizing~~ organized the 3rd Grand Traditional Karakucak Wrestling Festival and the Keçiören Seniors Karakucak Wrestling World ~~Championship, scheduled for~~ Championship from August 14–16, 2026, at the Bağlum Şehit Hüseyin Demirtaş Stadium. At the conclusion of the event, during the award ceremony, Afşin Mayor Koray Kıraç displayed a Palestinian flag to express solidarity with the people of Gaza, noting that the wrestling arena serves as a place for “courage, brotherhood, and solidarity.” Mayor Özarslan concluded the festivities by congratulating the athletes and inviting enthusiasts to future championships.
