Vincent Belorgey, known professionally as Kavinsky, was found dead in his Paris apartment on 28 July 2026 at the age of 50. French prosecutors opened an inquiry into the cause of death, noting that first responders reported “no suspicious elements” at the scene. While a cerebrovascular accident (stroke) was initially considered as a hypothesis—supported by reports that Belorgey had complained of severe headaches in the days prior—the exact cause remains undetermined. Following the confirmation of his death by Culture Minister Catherine Pégard, a wave of tributes emerged from the global music and film communities. President Emmanuel Macron praised his artistic contribution, while actor Nicolas Duvauchelle described him as “my brother.” Filmmaker Quentin Dupieux, a longtime collaborator, and former partner Gaëlle Constantini also shared emotional messages. Other notable figures offering condolences included Angèle, David Guetta, and The Weeknd. On 12 August, approximately 600 people gathered at the Saint-Pierre de Montmartre church for a religious ceremony, ceremony. The service featured his hit song “Nightcall” and the theme from “Jaws,” which was attended by accompanied his coffin into the church.
