KCON LA 2026 draws record 142,000 fans

Overview

KCON LA 2026, held from August 14 to 16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center and Crypto.com Arena, drew a record-breaking 142,000 attendees. Organized by CJ ENM under the theme ‘Walk in SOUL CITY’, the three-day festival featured 36 musical acts and programming spanning K-pop, K-dramas, K-beauty, K-food, and K-story elements.

A major highlight of the opening was a reunion performance by the K-pop group Wanna One. Nine members performed a special set including hits such as ‘ENERGETIC’, ‘BOOMERANG’, and ‘Spring Breeze, Again’, though Kang Daniel and Lai Kuanlin were not in attendance. The event also included industry showcases, retail circuits, and fan signings featuring artists such as Wonho and ZEROBASEONE.

Beyond music, the festival provided interactive cultural experiences. The Olive Young Festa market offered specialized services like skin analysis, while CJ CheilJedang utilized the ‘K-Flavor Arcade’ to integrate K-pop with culinary experiences. Through this initiative, more than 10,000 attendees sampled Bibigo products, such as mini wontons and spicy kimchi ramen, as part of a strategy to convert K-pop fans into long-term consumers of K-food.

The festival reflects a broader trend of growing global influence for South Korean culture, a surge increasingly visible in American media through the integration of Korean elements and the casting of Korean-American actors.
