K/DA virtual group comeback and 'Firestarter' EP release

Overview

Speculation regarding a potential comeback for the virtual K-pop group K/DA began following updates to their official social media accounts. These updates, which included new profile and banner images featuring pink and magenta flames, coincided with datamined leaks suggesting a ‘Firestarter’ skin concept and a new song registration.

Riot Games subsequently confirmed the group’s return with the announcement of a new single titled ‘FIRESTARTER’. This release marks the group’s first major musical project since 2020. The comeback features a new aesthetic inspired by haute couture and a music video produced by Fortiche Production. While some original members remain, the lineup includes new voices for the characters Evelynn and Kai'Sa, while SOYEON of (G)I-DLE returns as Akali.

The project has since expanded into the ‘Firestarter’ EP, a four-track release containing the title track, ‘WATCH ME’, ‘NEVER GOING BACK’, and ‘GIRLS’, the latter of which features a collaboration with DJ Sona. The vocal lineup for the EP includes Miyeon and Soyeon of (G)I-DLE as Ahri and Akali, Sophie Powers as Evelynn, and British artist Mimi Webb as Kai'Sa.

In addition to the animated music video for ‘Firestarter’, the release includes a visualizer for ‘NEVER GOING BACK’ produced by Histeria!. The comeback is set to culminate in a scheduled performance at the opening ceremony of the 2026 League of Legends World Championship Finals at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
