Actor Keanu Reeves is in negotiations for several high-profile action film projects. These include a potential role in ‘Maelstrom’, a Netflix thriller directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, and a lead role in an English-language remake of the South Korean action-thriller ‘The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil’. The remake, directed by James Wan and produced by Sylvester Stallone, is expected to feature Don Lee reprising his role from the original film. The plot centers on a Federal Marshal tasked with protecting the fiancée of an arms dealer who has entered witness protection. The characters must survive a single brutal night as a hurricane cuts off communications and prevents reinforcements from arriving, leaving them vulnerable to attacks from the arms dealer’s men. The project originates from a 1993 spec script by the late Gregory Fitzpatrick. The screenplay is being revised by Mark Bianculli, and producer Jeff Robinov is returning to the project under a new deal with Netflix.
