Kendrick Nunn injury and Panathinaikos roster changes

Overview

American basketball player Kendrick Nunn arrived in Athens to rejoin Panathinaikos following surgery for a torn medial meniscus sustained during preseason training. His return to Greece was delayed due to medical advice regarding long-haul travel post-surgery. While undergoing rehabilitation under coach Zeljko Obradovic, Nunn was expected to aim for a return to action by early October. By October 8, Panathinaikos AKTOR updated its foreign player roster for the Stoiximan GBL, replacing Nunn with French center Mustapha Fall while Nunn continued his recovery. Following his EuroLeague debut, Fall became available for domestic league play. Despite the roster adjustment, the team maintained an undefeated EuroLeague record following a 92-74 victory against Fenerbahce. On October 18, Nunn officially returned to competitive play during Panathinaikos’ 95-75 victory over Peristeri in the third round of the Greek Basketball League. The match, held at the Telekom Center Athens behind closed doors due to a disciplinary sanction, also marked the return of Kostas Sloukas. Nunn led the team with 18 points and 6 assists, while Dino Mitoglou contributed a double-double, helping Panathinaikos maintain a perfect 3-0 record in the domestic league. Following the match, Nunn expressed satisfaction with his return and praised Obradovic’s expertise in winning championships, stating his readiness to contribute “positive energy” to the squad as they work on building team chemistry. Ahead of an upcoming matchup against Baskonia, Obradovic noted that integrating returning players Sloukas and Nunn into the rotation will require time and specific training. On October 21, following a loss to Hapoel Tel Aviv, Nunn expressed readiness for his EuroLeague return against Baskonia. He stated he feels “physically and mentally strong” after a quick recovery and emphasized the importance of transition play and rebounding.
