Kentucky hunting season regulations and schedules

Overview

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources has released schedules for various hunting opportunities during the 2026 season.

In late July, the department announced the dove quota hunt schedule. This includes four quota hunts and four mentor-youth hunts beginning September 1 at the Big Rivers Wildlife Management Area and the Roberts Tract of the Kentucky River Wildlife Management Area. Applications for these hunts are accepted in August.

In mid-August, the department also announced the drawing dates for season-long waterfowl hunting blind sites. These drawings will occur at the Doug Travis, Lake Barkley, Green River Lake, and Barren River Lake Wildlife Management Areas between late August and early October. Participants must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid Kentucky hunting license.
