Since early May 2026, Kenyan police have been investigating a series of homicides across multiple counties, including Kisii, Kitengela, Busia, Makueni, Homa Bay, Kirinyaga, Nairobi, Kwale, Nakuru, Machakos, Kiambu, Kitui, and Naivasha. The probes encompass suspected poisonings, domestic violence, stabbings, and mob justice. In late August, investigations expanded in Nyamira County. On August 25, 67-year-old Alfayo Misuko Aremba was shot three times with a suspected AK-47 rifle in Ekenawa Village; police are looking into family disputes as a motive. In Gekano, 60-year-old Charles Osoro was allegedly killed by his brother with a hoe during a land dispute. Additionally, authorities are investigating the death of 69-year-old Modesta Kemunto Isaboke, whose body was found with visible injuries in Ogango Sub-location. Further reports emerged from Kwale and Busia counties. In Kwale, 58-year-old Pauline Ushindi Mwanzara was found dead with deep cuts to her head following an attack by unknown assailants. In Busia, an 18-year-old man, Elias Owino Odhiambo, Odhiambo died following a dispute over a bar of soap at Marenga Beach. The disagreement escalated into a fight where Odhiambo was allegedly struck on the head with a rungu; a 16-year-old suspect is currently in custody. By late August, authorities recovered the bodies of two individuals previously reported missing. In Kisumu County, the body of an eight-year-old boy from Happy Home Academy was retrieved from the River Nyando; police noted injuries around the child’s mouth. In Nakuru, the remains of Jackline Wangui Njoroge were found in a stone quarry in Bahati Constituency after a two-week search. Detectives reported the remains showed signs of severe physical assault, including head injuries, and have injuries. In early September, Nairobi detectives launched an investigation into the death of 21-year-old Francisca Wanja Thuranira. She was found unresponsive on a homicide investigation. bed at her aunt’s residence in Umoja Two, having sustained eight stab wounds to her chest.
