Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, the Georgian winger for Paris Saint-Germain, has faced a period of scrutiny regarding his professional performance and physical health.

Following his move to PSG from Napoli in early 2025, Kvaratskhelia’s form became a subject of debate among analysts. While he recorded 28 goals and 20 assists in 87 matches, some commentators expressed disappointment with his early-season impact, whereas others defended his ability to perform in high-stakes environments like the Champions League.

His season was subsequently interrupted by a serious knee injury sustained during a Champions League match against FC Barcelona at the Parc des Princes, where PSG secured a 4-2 victory. Medical assessments confirmed a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee. The 25-year-old Georgian international is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days and faces a long period of recovery, likely ending his 2026-27 season.

This match also resulted in thigh injuries for teammates Ousmane Dembélé and captain Marquinhos, who are expected to be sidelined for several weeks, while Nuno Mendes remains unavailable due to a prior injury.

PSG management has reportedly decided against using a ‘joker’ transfer to immediately replace Kvaratskhelia. Manager Luis Enrique emphasized the club’s intent to avoid immediate new signings, stating, “No injury means you have to recruit a new player.” Instead, the club is looking toward internal solutions, with Mika Godts, Désiré Doué, or Akliouche cited as potential options to cover the left flank.
