Kingdom Hearts Collection multi-platform release

Overview

The Kingdom Hearts: Collection [I-III] has officially launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via the Microsoft Store. Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the franchise, the bundle includes remastered versions of ‘Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX’, ‘Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue’, and ‘Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind’. While some entries are fully playable, others are provided as cinematic video content to maintain narrative continuity.

Following its pre-order phase, the collection arrived with a price point of 11,000 yen in Japan, while retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy are offering the collection for $75. On Xbox platforms, the release supports ‘Xbox Play Anywhere’, allowing users to share a single digital purchase between compatible consoles and PCs. Installation requirements remain substantial, at approximately 200GB for Xbox and 131GB for Nintendo Switch 2.

Initial critical reception has been largely positive. On Metacritic, the Nintendo Switch 2 version earned a score of 88, while the PlayStation 5 version received a 79. Reviewers specifically highlighted the Nintendo Switch 2 version for its native performance and portability, calling it a ‘red carpet’ for fans awaiting ‘Kingdom Hearts IV’. Some technical critiques were raised regarding frame rates within ‘Kingdom Hearts III’.

Square Enix has also announced that Korean subtitle support is scheduled for early summer 2027, which will coincide with a planned physical edition release. Certain platform purchases may include exclusive digital or physical ‘keyblade’ items.
