KNVB Cup first round results

The first round of the KNVB Cup featured several notable results. Almere City advanced to the round of 16 with a 2-0 victory over Telstar, featuring goals from Teun Bijleveld and Jochem Ritmeester de Kamp. In a separate fixture, FC Eindhoven defeated FC Volendam 5-3.

In a significant upset, amateur club De Treffers defeated Heracles Almelo 1-0 at Sportpark Zuid in Groesbeek. The winning goal was scored by Sebastiaan van Bakel in the 61st minute after Heracles defender Ivan Borac received a second yellow card, leaving the visitors with ten men for the final half hour.

Heracles Almelo coach Vincent Heilmann heavily rotated his squad, starting eight different players compared to the previous league match. While Heilmann expressed regret over the exit, he maintained that his decision to rotate the squad was not a gamble and that the team remained the better side in many aspects of the game. De Treffers coach Theo Janssen noted that the decision to field a modified lineup motivated his players. Other advancing teams included Purmersteijn, HSV Hoek, GVVV, and RKAV Volendam.
