Kocaeli Turkey summer family and sports events programs

The Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality kept its extensive summer programme running through August 2026, adding new elements while maintaining its core activities. Belde A. continued the two‑hour beach event on the Kandıra Kumcağız shoreline with games, songs, riddles, face‑painting and cotton‑candy for families. Open‑air cinema, stage shows, workshops and traditional games were held across Darıca, Gölcük, Karamürsel and İzmit, culminating in a large final gathering at İzmit Millet Bahçesi that drew thousands of attendees. Senior citizens were still served by trips organized by the İzmit Saygınlar Club to Kartepe and the Kuzuyayla peak. In early August, municipalities nationwide expanded free summer sports schools. Yıldırım, Bursa offered 16 sports for children aged 4‑16, with the mayor stressing that no child should miss out on sport. The Diyarbakır Youth and Sports Directorate taught swimming to 35,000 children under a “No One Should Be Unable to Swim” project, while the Turkey Youth Foundation reached over 500,000 children in Istanbul through open‑air festivals and mosque‑based activities. The neighbourhood fest “Köyde Şenlik Var” in Sepetçi remained a highlight, offering local music, games and refreshments. All activities remained free of charge, aiming to provide safe, educational and entertaining summer experiences for young residents and families across Kocaeli and the wider country. Further reports from other cities confirmed the nationwide push. Konya’s municipality launched Genç KOMEK and Bilgehane programmes for about 30,000 students, emphasizing child‑focused education. Edirne’s summer schools concluded with a festival for over 14,700 children, promoting active, screen‑free recreation. Diyarbakır’s swimming project kept offering free lessons to roughly 35,000 children. Other districts, including Karatay and Kartal, added sports and cultural workshops to encourage health, teamwork and inclusion.
