Turkish municipalities continue to expand social, educational, and athletic initiatives. In Malatya, the Metropolitan Municipality is organizing a sports summit to discuss strategic developments, athletic infrastructure, and the role of sports in youth social development. ~~The summit includes sessions with former national football players to motivate young athletes.~~ Additionally, Mayor Sami Er announced plans for a dedicated marketplace to support women’s cooperatives and entrepreneurs selling handmade products. In Adıyaman, the AKEM center continues providing free YKS exam preparation, while Kartepe Municipality is launching new technology, arts, and language courses through its Genç Akademi. Konya’s KOMEK and ASEM programs also remain active with vocational and digital training options. Infrastructure and specialized vocational efforts are also emerging. Erdemli Municipality in Mersin is manufacturing its own container classrooms, and Anamur is utilizing a ‘Voluntary Work Model’ where inmates assist with community services. In Manisa, a specialized gas welding course has been launched to help young women gain internationally recognized certifications. Meanwhile, Tuzla Municipality recently concluded its Summer Sports Schools with a festival, with Mayor Eren Ali Bingöl reiterating that sports should be “a right for everyone rather than a privilege,” promising that such programs will continue through the winter season. For the 2026-2027 period, new programs have been launched to enhance civic engagement and accessibility. In Kahramanmaraş, the Metropolitan Municipality is providing assistive technologies, such as lighted doorbells and vibrating baby monitors, to support hearing-impaired residents, while the Mehmet Arıkan Youth Center offers study resources for national exam preparation. In Ankara, the Metropolitan Municipality has opened applications for the 31st term of the Ankara Children's Assembly to involve students aged 9-14 in local decision-making. Keçiören Municipality has also begun registrations for its KEÇMEK vocational and arts courses, which offer 52 different branches.
