Kohler manufacturing closure in Brazil
Overview
Multinational manufacturer Kohler has announced the closure of its only factory in Brazil, located in Andradas, Minas Gerais. The shutdown, which took effect at the end of August, involves the discontinuation of the Fiori brand, which the company had operated since entering the Brazilian market in 2014.
The restructuring is expected to impact more than 400 direct employees. The Andradas facility had previously received over R$ 200 million in investments and once employed approximately 1,000 people.
Kohler’s director for Latin America, Roberto Riolobos Sanchez, stated that the decision is part of a global strategic realignment. The company intends to shift its focus away from the standard product market, which faces intense price competition, toward premium and luxury segments to prioritize higher value-added goods and profitability.
