Korea Heritage Service digital hospital tour
Overview
The Korea Heritage Service and the Korea Heritage Agency launched ‘National Heritage Digital Companion COMES 01’, a mobile digital cultural experience program designed to provide hospital patients, caregivers, and individuals with limited mobility access to national heritage.
The initiative utilizes various technologies, including Virtual Reality (VR) films based on the works of Yun Dong-ju and Shin Yun-bok, Augmented Reality (AR) explorations of Jeju’s heritage, and AI docents capable of answering questions about Korea’s five major palaces in six languages. The program also incorporates sensory activities, such as gold leaf craft workshops and tactile models.
The tour began at Wonju Severance Christian Hospital in mid-October and moved to Dong-A University Hospital in Busan from October 26 to 30, where visitors utilized seated VR content and voice-activated AI interactions. The program is scheduled to conclude at Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital in early November.
