Kosovo customs authorities have been engaged in both enforcement and bilateral reform efforts. In early August, officials at the Vërmicë border crossing seized undeclared hair-treatment products valued at approximately €4,600. Authorities noted that such undeclared items pose a potential public-health risk by bypassing required safety and composition checks. Later in In late August, Agron Llugaliu, Director General of the month, leadership from Kosovo Customs of Kosovo, met with officials from the Customs Administration Boban Nikollovski and Mustafa Dauti of the North Macedonia to discuss Macedonian Customs Administration. The leaders discussed bilateral cooperation and reforms. Discussions focused on the implementation exchange of expertise, specifically highlighting the success of pre-arrival declaration reforms and the success of ‘One Stop Shop’ joint control points at the Hani i Elezit-Bllacë and Globoçicë-Jazhincë Bllacë border crossings. Simultaneously, enforcement operations continued near Viti, where authorities intercepted a van from North Macedonia containing over 9,500 bags of chips, 700 packs of pasta, and 750 containers of beef goulash. The goods, valued at over 5,000 euros, were seized due to a lack of proper import documentation. In related law enforcement activity, the Kosovo Police Directorate for International Police Cooperation facilitated two extraditions: a Kosovar citizen was returned from North Macedonia to face theft and weapons charges, and a German national was extradited to Germany regarding drug trafficking charges.
