Political negotiations regarding the presidency and assembly leadership in Kosovo have centered on an agreement between the Vetëvendosje Movement (LVV) and the LDK. Initially, LVV deputy Artan Abrashi maintained that the presidential agreement with the LDK remained valid, despite opposition from six LDK deputies. Abrashi characterized the opposition as “unexpected and detrimental” and sought clarification through leadership meetings to avoid early elections. Following an extraordinary leadership meeting to address the political situation after the June 7 elections, the LVV announced it would vote for opposition candidates Vlora Çitaku (PDK) and Kujtim Shala (LDK) for the positions of Deputy Speakers of the Assembly. The party described this as a “step of goodwill” intended to ensure institutional stability and prevent a fourth set of elections in less than two years, which they noted would be unnecessary and costly for the state budget. LVV expressed hope that the opposition would reciprocate this approach by participating in the election of Bekim Sejdiu as President. Opposition leaders, including Ardian Gjini of Aleanca and Arian Tahiri of PDK, have expressed skepticism regarding the move. They suggested that the timing of the Assembly’s constitution may be a calculated tactic by Albin Kurti to set the date for new elections on December 27, potentially to maximize the impact of the diaspora vote. The Recent constitutive session sessions have faced repeated interruptions and political deadlock. While Ardian Gola of LVV was elected with 101 votes, subsequent attempts to elect Vlora Çitaku of the Assembly is scheduled PDK failed after she received only 44 votes, prompting walkouts by PDK and LDK deputies. In response to continue on Sunday, September 13. the impasse, LVV reiterated its decision to vote for the opposition's candidates to ensure stability. However, the PDK has refused to participate in further sessions, arguing that constitutional deadlines were missed as early as August 7.
