The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has conducted multiple investigations into corruption involving government officials and disaster management funds. In Klaten and Jakarta, a sting operation (OTT) conducted on October 15, 2026, led to the arrest of the Regent of Klaten, Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo, the Head of the BPK Central Java Representative Office, Ahmad Luthfi H. Rahmatullah, and Muhammad Amin Wahyu Utomo from PT Madani Winasis Creative. The operation, which spanned Klaten, Surakarta, and Jakarta, resulted in the arrest of approximately 20 individuals. Investigators seized cash evidence totaling between Rp1.2 billion and Rp1.9 billion, including a blue bucket allegedly used to store bribe money. Specifically, Rp934 million was reportedly found in a blue plastic bucket at the residence of the Regent’s brother, Hanaku Agni Sadewo. The investigation identified five corruption clusters in the Klaten Regency: bribery to influence BPK audit results, procurement of goods and services, licensing, routine payments from regional agencies (OPD), and illegal levies. Allegations suggest Hamenang received over Rp2 billion in fees to influence the 2025 financial audit and pay debts from the 2024 regional election (Pilkada). Following the investigation, the KPK officially named Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo, Ahmad Luthfi H Rahmatullah, and Muhammad Amin Wahyu Utomo as suspects. Searches of the Regent’s residence and regional offices yielded documents, electronic devices, cash, and jewelry. In response to the designation, the PDI Perjuangan party confirmed it has officially dismissed Hamenang from its membership. Separately, the KPK has named five suspects in a case involving the misuse of Ready-to-Use Funds (DSP) at the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB). Suspects include former expert advisors Bima Setiawan and Richard Erlangga, BNPB official Gabriel Purwaka Sigit, and private sector individuals Gery Prasetiawan and Syifa Nrika Ghifarin. Investigations reveal that between 2024 and 2026, approximately Rp148 billion in procurement, including equipment for forest and land fire management, was allegedly linked to Bima Setiawan. Additionally, funds were allegedly diverted to purchase Rp30.98 billion in shares of PT MDLA. The KPK is coordinating with the TNI Military Police regarding the involvement of active personnel and the role of former BNPB Head Suharyanto.
