Lakambini “Lakam” Chiu, co-founder of the handbag brand House of Little Bunny Philippines, Inc. (HOLB), is facing 124 counts of qualified theft involving approximately PHP 44.4 million in corporate funds. The legal proceedings began after Kim Chiu, the company’s president and majority stockholder, reported unauthorized withdrawals from joint business accounts starting in mid-2025. While Kim Chiu alleged the funds were used for personal debts and casino gambling, Lakambini Chiu claimed the money was lost in a failed casino-related business venture. Following a resolution by the Quezon City prosecutor’s office finding probable cause, a warrant was issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court. On September 20, 2026, Lakambini Chiu was arrested in Mandaluyong City. The court recommended a bail amount of P5.838 million. Following the arrest, her legal counsel, Dominic Solis, filed a motion for a “reasonable bail,” stating that noting she currently lacks lacked the means to post the full amount.
