Overview

In late July 2026 municipal authorities in Mexico and Spain launched several water‑related projects, including drainage works in Quintana Roo and an AI‑driven eco‑factory in Granada. A week later, larger programmes were announced across the region, such as well‑building in Atizapán de Zaragoza and multi‑billion‑peso aqueducts in Chile, Colombia, Argentina, Peru and Baja California Sur.

By the end of July, Atizapán de Zaragoza increased its budget to 69.45 million pesos for 2024‑2025, rehabilitated deep wells and began construction of a new well in the México 86 colony to serve 15,130 residents. Comparable investments were reported in Hermosillo (a pluvial‑capture system storing about 920 000 liters for groundwater recharge and park irrigation), Buenos Aires Province, Argentina (the Río Luján project benefiting roughly 11 600 inhabitants), Chile’s Ñancul (a 3.209 billion‑peso rural system for more than 800 families), Mexicali, Baja California (a sewage upgrade financed with over 75 million pesos for 5 112 residents), and Peru’s San Luis Agua (manual river maintenance restoring flow for five farming families).

Argentina’s “Más Agua, Más Salud” program connected 528 households, Mexico City’s CDMX rehabilitated four housing units in Iztapalapa for about 3 000 residents, Colombia’s Aguas de Córdoba advanced water‑sewage networks in San Andrés de Sotavento (over 70 % complete), and the Dominican Republic’s vice‑president launched a water‑distribution project for more than 35 000 people in La Romana. Additional irrigation improvements in Valcheta, Argentina, and infrastructure upgrades in Zempoala, Mexico, were also noted.
