Peruvian television host Laura Bozzo underwent emergency surgery in Acapulco, Mexico, on October 13 to treat a duodenal ulcer. While initial reports suggested complications such as peritonitis and severe dehydration, her representatives stated the surgery to suture the ulcer was successful and her condition was stable. Following the procedure, Bozzo was transferred to a specialized facility in Mexico City to manage complications including peritonitis and dehydration. Her spokesperson, Aarón Guerrero, noted that she is under medical sedation to reduce tissue inflammation but is breathing on her own with controlled vital signs. She has since moved from intensive care to a gastroenterology department for continuous monitoring. As of October 16, the 75-year-old presenter remains in a “delicate but stable” condition at the Hospital General in Mexico City. Medical teams have performed a tomography to monitor for potential complications, such as intestinal leaks or abscesses, which might necessitate further surgical intervention. While Bozzo remains partially unconscious due to sedation, her spokesperson clarified that she is breathing on her own and is not intubated. Her daughters, Victoria and Alejandra de la Fuente, are currently staying by her side. By October 19, reports indicated a significant decline in her health. According to information cited by the program Venga La Alegría, Bozzo is reportedly facing septic shock and has been intubated for mechanical ventilation. Additional reported complications include pneumonia, pulmonary hypertension, a left lung collapse, bronchial wall lesions, an enlarged heart, and cysts on her kidneys and liver. Medical staff are reportedly waiting for her to regain consciousness as sedation is reduced. Her daughters have requested privacy from the press. By October 21, updates suggested her condition might be stabilizing. Medical teams are reportedly evaluating a potential transfer from the intensive care unit to a regular hospital room, a process described as ‘paso a piso’.
