Italian singer Laura Pausini partnered with Brazilian vocalist Sandy to record a Portuguese version of the 1980 classic “Quando Chove,” originally written by Pino Daniele. The duet was recorded and the music video filmed in Milan, with the video directed by Leandro Manuel Emede for Sugarkane. Pausini noted she chose Sandy for her “sweet voice” and “beautiful timbre,” while Sandy described the invitation as a “beautiful surprise.” The track, which draws inspiration from the 1994 version by Patricia Marx, was added to the digital editions of Pausini’s album *Io Canto 2*. Released in early August, the single specifically targets the Brazilian and Portuguese markets. The collaboration aligns with Pausini’s international touring activities. While initially linked to her Io Canto / Yo Canto World Tour, the release also coincides with preparations for the European leg of her 2026/2027 World Tour, a tour that has reportedly sold 450,000 tickets globally. In a broader context of honoring Pino Daniele’s musical legacy, his brother and collaborator Nello Daniele is launching a theatrical tour titled ‘Daniele racconta Daniele’. The tour, scheduled for stops in Milan, Turin, Taranto, Rome, and Naples, explores the life and influences of the late musician, ranging from 1970s Naples to the blues influences of Club Marocco. Pausini’s duet is noted as part of this cultural celebration, serving as a bridge between Naples and Brazil.
