Law enforcement and emergency services in Franklin County and Frankfort, Maine, reported a variety of public safety incidents throughout July and August 2026. In Franklin County, reports from late July through early August included domestic assault, hit-and-run accidents, thefts, and reports of shots fired on Paul Sawyier Drive and Ridgeview Drive. Other activities involved responding to misdialed 911 calls, wellbeing checks, and a minor structure fire on Preston Way. Subsequent reports in mid-August detailed speeding, erratic driving—including an instance where a driver cited adjusting a smoothie straw as the cause—trespassing involving an aggressive solar salesman in Industry, and traffic assistance for livestock. Investigations also included threatening phone calls at a Kingfield Dollar General, a false ATV crash alert, and a verbal domestic dispute in Carthage. In Frankfort, authorities responded to motor vehicle accidents, a stolen vehicle, and various fraud complaints involving PNC Bank and Traditional Bank. Other incidents included a missing 15-year-old male who was later located, an assault at a Panera Bread drive-thru, a dog bite at Frankfort Regional Medical Center, and criminal mischief on Conway Street. Notably, the state fire marshal and local responders attended a structure fire on Preston Way, where an 84-year-old woman was found deceased. On August 31, emergency services responded to an assault at The Reserve at Cove Spring, a theft of copper from an AT&T access tower on the East-West Connector, and a vehicle break-in on Douglas Avenue. Other reports included a fight between two males at a Wendy’s on Versailles Road, a fraud complaint, and a missing juvenile on Laurel Street. Additionally, a structure fire on Botkins Lane was attributed to an electrical socket, and while most motor vehicle accidents were non-injury, one crash near Highbridge Spring Water resulted in reported injuries.
