Authorities in Crotone, Italy, have conducted several targeted operations involving multiple agencies. As part of the national and transnational ‘Focus ’Ndrangheta’ plan, law enforcement agencies including the State Police, Carabinieri, and the Provincial Health Authority (ASP) inspected local businesses. These inspections led to the immediate closure of a restaurant and an unauthorized food warehouse due to cockroach infestations and failure to meet sanitary standards. Administrative fines totaling 27,000 euros were issued. In a separate operation, the Crotone Road Police and ASP health personnel investigated the live animal transport sector. This investigation uncovered a suspected fraudulent system used to evade regulations regarding the transport of goods for third parties, as well as violations concerning animal welfare. The operation resulted in the impounding of a heavy vehicle and administrative sanctions totaling up to 4,130 euros. Recent inspections in Casabona and Rocca di Neto, involving the State Police, Guardia di Finanza, Coast Guard, and local health authorities, have expanded these efforts. During these checks, an unlicensed men's hair salon was identified operating without a business name or VAT number, resulting in a 500 euro fine and a referral to the mayor to ensure the activity ceases. In a separate restaurant inspection, the Coast Guard and health inspectors discovered approximately 6 kilograms of fish products lacking required traceability documentation. Authorities ordered the seizure and destruction of the goods and issued a 2,000 euro fine, noting further structural and hygienic deficiencies. Additionally, roadside checks involving 167 vehicles and 315 individuals resulted in 11 traffic violations, with 44 individuals identified as having prior criminal records.
