The plaintiffs allege that federal agencies the administration violated the Federal Advisory Committee Act by conducting a “procedural bait and switch.” They claim the government utilized a “secret panel” of consultants with financial ties to the meat, dairy, and low-carb industries to rewrite the guidelines. This process allegedly ignored bypassed a December 2024 report from transparent, two-year scientific review conducted by an independent advisory committee that committee—which had recommended prioritizing plant-based proteins and water consumption.
