The Lazio region has taken steps to promote and recognize its agricultural production, specifically in the wine and olive oil sectors. In late October 2026, the region launched a new 192-page guide titled “L’Universo dell’Oro Verde” (The Universe of Green Gold). Developed with the Regional Agency for the Development and Innovation of Agriculture of Lazio (Arsial), the publication showcases 90 producers across five provinces and highlights the region's 83,000 hectares of olive groves. Regional Agriculture and Budget Councilor Giancarlo Righini identified olive growing as a strategic resource for the local economy, while noting challenges such as falling market prices. By early November 2026, the region's agricultural quality received further recognition through the Gambero Rosso guides. According to the Guida Vini d’Italia 2027 and the I Migliori Oli d’Italia 2026/2027, Lazio secured eleven Tre Bicchieri awards for wines and thirteen Tre Foglie awards for extra virgin olive oils. These honors highlight production from diverse territories, including the volcanic soils of Castelli Romani, the Agro Pontino microclimate, and the hills of Tuscia and Sabina. Recognized varieties include Cesanese, Bellone, and Malvasia Puntinata wines, alongside olive oil cultivars such as Caninese, Carboncella, Salviana, and Itrana. Officials, including Massimiliano Raffa, president of Arsial, stated that these awards demonstrate the region's ability to compete at high levels of Italian gastronomy. gastronomy and reflect successful investments made by regional enterprises to enhance competitiveness on national and international markets.
