The Lebanese Internal Security Forces (ISF) have conducted multiple operations targeting drug trafficking and illegal arms possession. In mid-September, a raid by the Central Narcotics Office in Kfar Debian led to the arrest of one Lebanese national and two Syrian nationals. Authorities seized military-grade weaponry, including an RPD machine gun, a Dragunov sniper rifle, and various other firearms, alongside narcotics such as cocaine and marijuana. Shortly after, in the Saadiyat area, the ISF intercepted a vehicle and arrested a Lebanese male and a Palestinian male. This operation resulted in the seizure of various quantities of hashish, a handgun, and several currencies, including Lebanese pounds and US dollars. On October 16, 2026, the Lebanese Army expanded security efforts through nationwide operations, resulting in the arrest of 56 individuals, comprising 15 Lebanese citizens and 41 Syrian nationals. In Beirut’s Burj al-Barajneh, detainees were held for outstanding warrants or possession of ammunition and war weapons. Similar arrests involving firearms occurred in Akkar, Zahle, and Batroun following gunfire incidents. Regarding Syrian nationals, nine were detained in Qab Elias and Baalbek for lacking legal documentation, while 32 others were apprehended at checkpoints for illegal entry. Furthermore, the army conducted raids in Tripoli and Minieh-Danniyeh to combat drug trafficking, seizing significant quantities of narcotics and arresting distributors.
