An Argentine federal judge, Mariel Borruto, issued an injunction to halt the Sea Lion (León Marino) oil project in the waters north of the Falkland Islands. Following the initial injunction, the Municipality of Río Grande was admitted as an interested party in the federal lawsuit. Mayor Martín Pérez stated the municipality aims to protect maritime spaces, natural resources, and the environment, focusing on the potential impacts of hydrocarbon activities on South Atlantic biodiversity and compliance with national environmental and hazardous waste management laws.
