Marius Borg Høiby, the eldest son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, was sentenced to four years in prison by an Oslo court after being found guilty of two counts of rape. The legal proceedings followed allegations of assault that began in August 2024, creating what journalist Stefan Blatt described as “the largest scandal to impact Norway in recent history.” Following the sentencing, an Oslo court extended Høiby’s pretrial detention for an additional four weeks.
