Level-5 announces Professor Layton remake and new title

Level-5 has announced two major updates for the Professor Layton franchise. First, a remake of the original title, Professor Layton and the Curious Village, is scheduled for release in 2027. This version will feature 3D characters, high-resolution widescreen animations, and enhanced exploration. It is planned for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.

Second, the latest series entry, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, will launch on December 10, 2026. Set one year after the events of Professor Layton and the Unwound Future, the story takes place in the American city of Steam Bison. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The puzzles for this new title are being developed in collaboration with the Japanese media platform QuizKnock.
