Levski Sofia head coach Julio Velázquez has been involved in both disciplinary issues and high-profile European competition. Following a 0-0 draw against Botev Vratsa, Velázquez was fined 210 euros by the Bulgarian Football Union for provocative behavior after breaking a glass panel on the substitute bench. The club was also ordered to pay for repairs to the Hristo Botev Stadium. In the Europa League, Levski Sofia suffered a 0-1 defeat against Red Bull Salzburg. During this match, Levski became the only team in the opening round to fail to register a single shot on target, while Salzburg recorded seven. Despite the loss, Velázquez described the performance as one of their best, stating the players performed at a ‘Europa League level’. In their second group stage match, Levski Sofia secured a 1-1 draw against NEC Nijmegen in the Netherlands. Reynaldo opened the scoring in the 36th minute after controlling a long ball from goalkeeper Svetoslav Vutsov. An earlier goal by Everton Bala was disallowed for offside. However, NEC Nijmegen equalized in the 64th minute after a significant error by Vutsov, which allowed Tjaron Chery to score into an empty net. ~~This result provides Levski~~ Following the draw, Vutsov leads the UEFA Europa League in saves with ~~their~~ 14 recorded across the first ~~points in~~ two rounds.
