Lidl has issued multiple product recalls in Europe due to pesticide and insecticide contamination. In France, the retailer recalled Charentais melons sold in bulk across more than thirty departments, including Paris and Gironde. The recall targeted lot L34 02, marketed in late August 2026, after detecting levels of the insecticide flonicamide that exceeded permitted limits. In Germany, a nationwide recall was issued for Deluxe brand strawberries in white chocolate. The recall followed an internal investigation ~~that~~ by the Bulgarian supplier, Victoria Nuts Ltd., which found levels of chlorpyrifos above legal ~~limits in specific batches supplied by Victoria Nuts Ltd.~~ limits. Chlorpyrifos is an insecticide that has not been authorized for use in the European Union since ~~2020.~~ 2020 due to concerns regarding potential neurological effects and developmental risks in children. The affected 120g packages include batch numbers 12 L160426-1 and 13 L160426-1, with a best-before date of April 16, 2027. Consumers are warned not to consume the product, as potential symptoms of exposure include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and headaches. Affected items can be returned to any Lidl branch for a full refund, even without a receipt.
