During the 2026-2027 winter baseball season in the Dominican Republic, the Águilas Cibaeñas recorded their first victory with a 4-1 win against the Gigantes del Cibao, supported by a dominant pitching staff. Following this, the Águilas Cibaeñas suffered a 9-5 defeat against the Leones del Escogido at Estadio Quisqueya Juan Marichal. In this matchup, Jonathan Guzmán provided a decisive three-run home run in the fourth inning. While Christopher Morel contributed a two-run home run for the Águilas, the Escogido bullpen effectively limited their offense after starter Lael Lockhart exited the game. Juan Mercedes earned the win for Escogido, while Jorge Tavárez took the loss. This victory moved Escogido to a 2-4 record, lifting them out of last place, while the Águilas fell to the bottom of the standings with a 1-4 record. In other LIDOM action, the Estrellas Orientales defeated Tigres del Licey 8-3 at Estadio Tetelo Vargas. The Estrellas utilized a five-run first inning to take control, highlighted by multi-RBI performances from Raimel Tapia, César Prieto, and Leo Bernal. The win brings the Estrellas to a 3-2 record and halts Licey’s three-game winning streak, leaving Licey and Gigantes del Cibao tied for first place with 4-2 records. In subsequent play, the Tigres del Licey secured a 6-2 victory over the Águilas Cibaeñas at Estadio Cibao, fueled by a sixth-inning rally from José Barrero and Gustavo Núñez. Additionally, the Estrellas Orientales won a high-scoring 12-11 walk-off game against the Gigantes del Cibao, decided by a bases-loaded single from Marco Luciano in the bottom of the ninth. This victory moved the Estrellas to second place in the standings.
