Mexico’s top women’s football league, now branded Liga Femenil BBVA, launched the Apertura 2026 season with a new group‑stage format. Eighteen clubs were divided into two groups of nine, each playing 14 regular‑season matches – eight against teams in their own group and six against the opposite group – before the top four from each group advanced directly to the quarter‑finals.
