Disney+ has announced ‘Messi and the Giants’ (also referred to as ‘Messi y los gigantes’), an animated sports-fantasy series executive produced by Lionel Messi. The series was revealed via a trailer debut at the San Diego Comic-Con in Málaga, Spain. The narrative follows a 12-year-old version of Messi who is transported to a fantasy world called Iko. To return home, he must compete in high-stakes, football-inspired tournaments involving ‘spheres’ to defeat legendary giants and restore fractured kingdoms. The series relies on ~~skill~~ skill, teamwork, and determination rather than the special powers used by other inhabitants of Iko. Production involves Atlantis Animation, Sony Pictures Television, and Sony Music Vision. The voice cast includes Milo Burgess-Webb as Leo/Messi and Giulietta Vainer Tisminetzky as his mother, with a soundtrack featuring music by Luck Ra. The series is scheduled for a global release on Disney+ and on the Disney Channel in the United States in the summer of 2027.
