Argentine footballer Lionel Messi has commissioned a luxury Ultima 88 catamaran from the Polish shipyard Sunreef Yachts. The vessel, measuring approximately 26.8 to 29 meters in length, is being constructed at a production facility in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. The power catamaran features an open-plan layout, an Ocean Lounge with a hydraulic swim platform, a flybridge, and a jet ski garage. It is designed to accommodate guests in multiple staterooms, including an owner’s suite that spans the full width of the hull and four guest cabins. The yacht is expected to join Messi’s MIM Ocean fleet, which operates yacht charters in the Balearic Islands, including Mallorca, Ibiza, and Formentera. The vessel is powered by twin engines producing a total of 2,000 horsepower. While initial estimates placed the model's catalog price between €7.5 million and €9.25 million, the customized vessel is valued at approximately €10 million ($10.4 million). Messi has expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, citing his family’s love for spending time at sea and his appreciation for the shipyard’s style and features. Recent reports specify that the Ultima 88 is a high-performance hybrid motor catamaran. To prioritize energy efficiency, the design incorporates custom batteries, a solar covering system, and twin 1,000 HP engines. The interior is expected to utilize sustainable materials, including reclaimed fabrics, recycled plastics, and sustainable wood. Messi joins an elite group of athletes who have commissioned Sunreef Yachts, such as Rafael Nadal and Robert Lewandowski.
