Literary and cultural events are being organized in Chișinău to foster dialogue and strengthen regional ties. The CHILL – Chișinău Literary Laboratory festival is scheduled for September 17 to 24, 2026, acting as a transborder network for the International Literature Festival Odesa and FILIT Chișinău. Organizers describe the partnership as an “instrument for European dialogue” and a means of solidarity against fragmentation caused by war and political borders. In conjunction with these efforts, the ninth Bookfest Chișinău International Book Fair is taking place through September 6, 2026. The fair features over 30 publishing houses from Moldova and Romania, providing a space for interaction between writers, editors, and readers. Culture Minister Dan Suruceanu noted the event helps to “strengthen cultural ties between Moldova and Romania.” The ninth edition of the Bookfest International Book Salon includes approximately 80 activities, such as book launches, debates, and meetings with authors. Other regional cultural activities include the 6th Bocșa Film Festival in Romania, the Sibiu Contemporary Art Festival (SCAF), and the itinerant ‘EVROVIZION’ exhibition, which is set to arrive at the National Museum of Art in Moldova to explore European identity through contemporary art.
