The Lithuanian State Tax Inspectorate (VMI) has prepared land tax declarations for 2026, with a payment deadline of November 16. Total expected revenue is projected at 65.4 million euros, an increase from the 61 million euros calculated for 2025. This revenue is expected to come from approximately 817,000 residents and 19,000 companies. Some landowners may see higher tax amounts due to updates by the Center of Registers, which recalculated the areas of surface water body protection strips based on actual measurements. In the Kretinga district, landowners are expected to pay approximately 933,000 euros. Declarations are available through the Electronic Declaration System (EDS) or the ‘Mano VMI’ platform. For those not using electronic services, paper declarations are being sent by mail with an expected arrival by November 3. To assist residents living far from district centers, the VMI will deploy a mobile consultation bus. As the deadline approaches, VMI officials have issued reminders that taxpayers are legally required to pay even if they do not receive a physical or electronic declaration. Residents are encouraged to contact the VMI information center to verify calculated amounts. In the Klaipėda region, landowners in the city are expected to pay approximately 1.6 million euros, involving 26,300 residents and 841 companies. As of early November, roughly 14,000 residents had completed their payments. In the Mažeikiai district, residents owe 683,400 euros, while 314 companies owe 154,200 euros. The tax is owed by the individual or entity that owned the plot on June 30.
