Lithuania is observing the traditional Žolinė festivities, a holiday marking the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the transition from summer to autumn. The holiday blends Christian traditions with ancient customs centered on gratitude for the harvest and nature, including visiting churches with bouquets of herbs and flowers and observing folk signs to predict autumn weather. In Krekenava, the Great Herbs Fete concluded with a Family Day at the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
