Lithuania is undergoing various road construction and infrastructure renovation projects across its national highways and urban centers. On a national level, the Lietuvos keliai association reports that highway repairs are continuing through the autumn to utilize favorable weather. Major projects include work on the A1, A8, and A11 highways, with approximately 100 kilometers of motorway repairs expected to be finished by the end of the year. Recent developments include Via Lietuva commencing repairs on a 1.134 km section of the Kaišiadorys–Žasliai road (No. 1809). This €445,000 project, executed by AB Kauno tiltai, involves renewing worn asphalt, fixing ruts and cracks, and updating road markings and safety elements in the Žasliai town area. Additionally, simple repair works are beginning on a 10 km stretch of the A1 Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda highway near Elektrėnai on the Kaunas–Vilnius side. This is part of a broader project to repair 26.56 km of road and one bridge to address surface defects and extend the road's service life. Separately, a plan to adjust protection zones for state roads in the Skuodas district has been submitted to the Minister of Transport and Communications for approval. In the capital, Vilnius Mayor Valdas Benkunskas has set a goal to complete several street and infrastructure renovations by September 1. This initiative aims to reduce traffic congestion as residents and students return from summer holidays. These urban projects involve road reconstruction, sewage network upgrades, and improvements to traffic lights and public transport infrastructure across numerous major streets.
