On August 30, a man in his 30s sustained life-threatening head injuries following what Detective Superintendent Sam Blackburn described as a “particularly violent attack” on the Central Line platform at Liverpool Street Underground station. British Transport Police investigated the incident, noting the suspect had fled the scene via an eastbound train. By September 1, The incident occurred at approximately 10:51 pm while the victim, identified as 32-year-old Thomas Jewitt, was returning from the Notting Hill Carnival. Mr. Jewitt passed away in the hospital. Following hospital on September 1, surrounded by his family. His family described him as a “fun-loving, caring and kind” individual who worked in affordable housing and was planning to marry his fiancée next year. Jeremiah Maximo, 38, was initially charged with grievous bodily harm in connection with the assault. Following the victim's death, British Transport Police indicated they would seek to amend existing the charges against Jeremiah Maximo, who had been initially charged with grievous bodily harm. The family of Mr. Jewitt released Maximo on the indictment at a tribute describing him as “fun-loving, caring and kind.” later court date. Detectives continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
