Local law enforcement activity in Poland

Local law enforcement and municipal guards in Poland have responded to a variety of public safety incidents, ranging from medical emergencies to criminal activities. In Świdnica, the Municipal Guard recorded 152 interventions over a one-week period in late September 2026, including medical emergencies, improper parking, and animal rescues. By mid-October, reports indicated broader police activity across multiple cities.

In Płock, an off-duty officer apprehended a 32-year-old robbery suspect at a construction market, leading to the recovery of stolen goods. In Oświęcim, a district officer and a nurse assisted a 61-year-old man during an epilepsy attack, while emergency services in Świnoujście treated a man for abdominal injuries. Fatalities and serious injuries were also reported in transport-related incidents. In Ostrów Świecki, two teenagers, aged 13 and 17, died after a tractor fell from a flood embankment. In the Szreńsk-Mława area, a 14-year-old cyclist was airlifted to a hospital following a collision with a car.

Criminal investigations and emergency rescues continue to be reported. In Katowice, a 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly setting fire to an abandoned building. Other arrests include a 25-year-old woman for shoplifting in Wrocław, a 38-year-old for violent thefts and assaults in the same city, and a 37-year-old for stealing a trailer and fuel. In Ruda Śląska, officers used first aid to save a choking 1.5-year-old girl.

In Zagnańsk, a 68-year-old man was detained following the discovery of spoiled food, alcohol, and rodent carcasses on a property. Multiple agencies, including the State Sanitary Inspection and Veterinary Inspection, are investigating the storage of waste and potential threats to human health and the environment, as well as the legality of alcohol production.
