On 26 July 2026, a house party at a short‑term rental on Orchard Avenue in the Bahrs Scrub suburb of Logan, Queensland, erupted into a violent brawl between two groups of youths. Police arrived early in the morning around 2:15 am to find extensive property damage and to a nearby home and several vehicles. A 21‑year‑old man, man from Redbank Plains, Jongkuch Peter Kur Jongkuch Achieu, with sustained severe head injuries. He injuries and was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital and Hospital. He died on 1 August after life support was withdrawn. Detective Inspector Ian Galpin described the incident as a “targeted attack” and stated there was “no ongoing threat to the wider community.” Booking.com, which listed the property, announced it would investigate the incident with its trust and safety team. Following a large‑scale homicide investigation that included involving over 80 officers and 14 simultaneous search warrants across Logan, South Brisbane, and Ipswich, warrants, several arrests were made. On 6 August, four teenagers (two 18‑year‑olds and two 19‑year‑olds) were arrested and charged with murder. A fifth suspect, a 22‑year‑old, was charged with contravening an electronic information order. On 9 August, the number of murder charges increased after four additional males, aged 17 and 18, were arrested in Morayfield and charged with murder. Police allege the group arrived with a “preconceived plan” to inflict harm using various weapons. In total, eight teenagers have been charged with murder in connection with the death. A 22‑year‑old was also charged with contravening an electronic information order. The investigation, which includes the Queensland Police Organised Crime Gangs Group, is ongoing, and authorities have indicated further arrests may be possible. The suspects are scheduled to appear in the Brisbane and Richlands Magistrates Courts.
