During the first half of 2026, Lombardy experienced a 3.9% decline in the value of its wood and furniture exports, totaling 2.2 billion euros. While the region remains Italy’s leader in this sector, accounting for 29% of the national total, it faced significant contractions in major markets, including France (-9.1%), the United States (-7.3%), and Germany (-10.4%). Despite these losses, growth was observed in exports to the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Spain. Within the furniture sector specifically, the decline was largely attributed to reduced sales in the U.S. At the provincial level, Monza and Brianza reported a 3% increase in exports, reaching 613 million euros, even as demand from China and Germany fell. This provincial growth was driven largely by a 40.6% surge in exports to the United Kingdom.
