Longwood men's soccer season start progress
The Longwood University men’s soccer team began their season with consecutive victories. They first defeated victories, defeating Coastal Carolina University 4-2 in their home opener, led by two goals from Joshwa Campbell and significant offensive contributions from Brando Bedolla. Following that win, the Lancers secured a 2-1 road victory against Campbell University. This second win brought Longwood’s record to 4-0, marking University 2-1. These wins established a 4-0 start, the first time undefeated season in the program’s Division I history history. However, the Lancers’ momentum was halted in their Big South Conference opener against UNC Asheville. The Bulldogs defeated Longwood 3-0 in a match that they have started included a season undefeated. During lightning delay of approximately two and a half hours during the match against Campbell, Brando Bedolla scored second half. Following the equalizing goal, and Joshwa Campbell delay, Tyler Ware scored the decisive twice—including a 62nd-minute free kick—and Kayoum Mbamba added a third goal in the 78th minute. 69th minute to secure the shutout. UNC Asheville dominated the match with 27 shots compared to Longwood’s five. Despite the loss, Longwood goalkeeper Nicolas Pucci recorded eight saves, and Brando Bedolla recorded three shots on goal.
