Environmental engineer and social media personality Lorenzo Mirandola, known as an ‘Aurora Hunter’, is set to release his first book, ‘Quando il cielo si accende – La mia vita a caccia di aurore Boreali’, through Rizzoli on October 27. Mirandola, who has 600,000 Instagram followers, uses the work to combine autobiographical storytelling with field photography. The book details his experiences tracking the Northern Lights, including technical insights and personal anecdotes regarding his transition from a passion to a profession. Later details specify that Mirandola documented over 210 aurora sightings during the most recent season and that the book aims to address common myths and misinformation regarding the phenomenon. The publication is designed to provide an immersive visual experience while using accessible language to explain the challenges of pursuing unpredictable natural phenomena.
